International Gold Medal Award
History of the International Award
A Trailblazer in Global Recognition:The Dr. M.A. Wazed Miah International Gold Medal (DWMF) occupies a distinguished position as a pioneer in international recognition worldwide.
Although the Government has historically conferred prestigious civilian awards, these honors were traditionally limited to citizens. Historical evidence confirms that the Dr. M.A. Wazed Miah Memorial Foundation (DMWF) was the first to transcend this limitation.
• 2010 (Pioneer of Modern International Awards): The Foundation initiated the awarding of the International Gold Medal to foreign nationals in acknowledgment of their exceptional contributions to development on all kinds of fields.
• 2011 (Government Adoption): Subsequently, in 2011, the Government formally established honors such as the "Bangladesh Freedom Honour" for foreign nationals.
Consequently, this Gold Medal represents a forward-thinking initiative, recognizing the importance of global inclusion prior to the formalization of state-level foreign honors.
An Autonomous International Distinction
An Independent Global Honor
Established prior to specific governmental programs for foreign nationals, the Dr. M.A. Wazed Miah International Gold Medal is not a government-issued award, nor is it confined by national boundaries. It is an autonomous, globally recognized distinction governed by its own unique jurisdiction and selection criteria.
Status: This medal represents the highest honor conferred by the ingos/foundation upon foreign nationals or non-citizens.
Philosophy: The award is founded on the principle that "Merit knows no borders." It fosters a global connection between Bangladesh and the world by recognizing intellectuals, scientists, and humanitarians from countries including Japan, India, Russia, the USA, China, and over 200 additional nations.
Globally Integrated International Network
The award represents more than a mere medal; it serves as the focal point of an extensive international network overseen by the foundation's Global Affairs Division. This network actively fosters connections between nations through:
• Diplomatic Engagement: Partnering with esteemed international organizations such as the African Regional Development Network (Zimbabwe) and the International Diplomatic Forum (USA).
• Institutional Endorsements: Endorsed by prominent global figures including Vinton G. Cerf (Google) and distinguished academic leaders from Kyushu University (Japan).
• Cross-Border Impact: Honoring outstanding achievements across a wide spectrum of disciplines—from Atomic Science and Education to Human Rights and Sports.
